Zach Hymowitz is a Presidential Scholar at the University of Alabama, where he is pursuing his bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering as well as his MBA. At Alabama, Zach founded Bama Theme Park Engineering and Design, a TEA-affiliated student organization, where, under his leadership, he has led design teams and organized numerous professional development events, giving students the opportunity to both develop design skills and to learn from and meet with industry professionals from companies such as Walt Disney Imagineering and Universal Creative.
A lifelong maker, Zach began working with 3D printers in the fifth grade and has since developed his skills in design and fabrication, creating multiple animatronic figures and earning certifications in SolidWorks and Adobe Photoshop.
His technical expertise led to an animatronics internship at LF Studios (LifeFormations), where he worked on animated figures for major project portfolios for the Disney and Universal parks. Prior to that, Zach gained firsthand experience in theme park operations when he operated Avatar: Flight of Passage during his Disney College Program. Managing one of the highest-trafficked attractions in the world gave him an unparalleled, behind-the-scenes perspective on the realities of theme park operations.
Beyond his professional and academic pursuits, Zach enjoys staying physically active and involved with his campus life; he founded and coaches the historical martial arts group, Crimson Sword Fighting. He also enjoys reading and writing, and is currently working on the second draft of his fantasy novel, The Trial of Order.
What Zach most enjoys about themed entertainment is that it combines all of the best parts of exploring a new city or country- sights, good food, and adventurous discoveries around every corner- with intentional artistic design and world-class engineering and cutting-edge special effects.

Zach Hymowitz is an active member of TEA and IAAPA. He has attended IAAPA Expo since 2023 and TEA SATE since 2024, and is a two-time recipient of the TEA NextGen Scholarship.
